Life Legacy
Essie Mae Sadler Burns passed away peacefully on Wednesday,
February 3,2010, at the home of her sister Naomi Rehberg where
she was cared for with love and attention. Services for Essie
Mae Sadler Burns, 93, of Thomasville, are at 3 p.m. Saturday,
February 6, 2010 at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home Chapel. Interment
will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Garland Basford
and Rev. Tim Phillips will officiate. Pallbearers are Chris Rehberg,
Timmy Rehberg, Donald Houze, Ronnie Sadler, Terry Sadler, and
Kenny Cook. Born April 3,1917, in Thomasville, Georgia, she is the daughter of the late Lonnie Saddler and Bertha Newberry Sadler.
She was married to W. J. Burns her beloved husband and fishing
partner who preceded her in death. She is the mother of the late
Rebecca Burns Kessler, and Joann Burns Emmet,whom she loved dearly. Essie worked for Warner's in Thomasville, for twenty-five years.
She is a member of the First Baptist Church. Essie lived life with
joy and kept fishing until the end. Survivors include: Six Grandchildren: Allison Davis-Kusuda, Robert Freeman, Carol
Todaro, , Darrel Freeman, Joel Price, Michael Post, Debbie Freeman
Mitchell. Three Sisters: Naomi Rehberg - Boston, GA, Bernice Dunlap
Ryland - Ochlocknee, GA, Martha Howze Farless, Avon Park, FL,
Seven Great Grandchildren: Brandi Todaro, Anthony Todaro, Christopher Freeman, Meagan Freeman, Robert Freeman, III, Matthew Freeman, Jordan Kusuda. Essie was a shining star in our family and will be missed.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm Saturday at the
funeral home.
